AmeriPride Linen & Uniform Services

AmeriPride Linen & Uniform Services Since 1889, Ameripride Services provides linen, uniforms, floor mats, and cleaning products to 150,000 customers every week from 115 production facilities and service centers in North America. As part of a broader sustainability commitment, solar energy complements Ameripride’s investments in alternative fuel vehicles, heat reclamation systems, equipment upgrades, and water conservation and treatment to conserve energy. Based in Minnesota, Ameripride engaged HOLT Renewables to install a rooftop solar energy system at its Odessa, TX processing plant. The proposed design solution involved a complicated interconnection that needed to be compatible with ongoing business operations at the facility. The rooftop solar system is composed of Hanwha Q Cells 335 Watt panels and Fronius inverters to provide approximately 15% of AmeriPride's energy use at its Odessa site. To offset costs, HOLT Renewables guided AmeriPride through Oncor’s cash rebate program, providing $0.85 per watt towards the cost of the solar energy system. Federal tax credits further reduce expenditure and improve ROI on the project.

City of Bisbee, AZ The City of Bisbee, Arizona, approximately 100 miles southeast of Tuscon, set an energy strategy focusing on sustainable development and decreasing electricity costs. The San Jose Wastewater Treatment Plant is the city's largest energy consumer. Working with HOLT Renewables, the city installed a solar photovoltaic system to accomplish its goals. This 400 kW solar array at the San Jose Wastewater Treatment Plant provides 90% of the plant's energy needs, saving the city about $110,000 a year.

City of Woodland Under California’s Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32) cities are required to establish a comprehensive program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all sources to fight global warming. The city of Woodland’s 2017 Climate Action Plan provides strategies to move into compliance with AB 32, including moving to renewable energy sources. Woodland decided to control its long-term energy costs by powering a variety of its buildings with on-site solar energy. The challenge was doing so in a way that did not impede normal city operations or reduce the level of service to its citizens. After a competitive RFP process, Woodland awarded a 2.46 MW portfolio of solar projects to HOLT Renewables, which has extensive experience working with local governments nationwide. The project covers 80% - 90% of the energy demand for 5 of the 6 facilities. Construction included of six separate systems using Hanwha Q-CELLS panels, and Solectria and SolarEdge inverters, installed at the City Hall, Community & Senior Center, Public Library; Municipal Services Center, Police Department, and Water Pollution Control Facility. Installations included 1.3 MW of carports, rooftops, and shade canopy installations, as well as 1.1 MW of ground-mount installations. At each site, solar had to allow operations to continue as normal, and visually and structurally complement the site.

Alamo Heights Independent School District Alamo Heights ISD (AHISD) in San Antonio, TX issued two competitive RFPs in 2011 and 2013 to design and build a total of seven turnkey, grid-tied solar systems on various school facilities totaling 630kW-DC. These solar projects were for two school buildings; secondarily, another five projects included four schools and a plant services building. The projects save the district over $40,000 annually in electricity costs. A 20-year contract to provide electricity back into the grid also generates over $230,000 annually. These complex projects required consideration of local utility CPS Energy’s interconnection requirements; installation of both roof and ground mount systems; and a tight construction schedule working around ongoing school and community activities with associated construction restrictions. The first two projects, 2,469 Suniva 255W monocrystalline solar modules and (30) high-efficiency SMA transformerless string inverters. secured a $0.27/kWh Feed-In Tariff from the CPS Solartricity Program. The next five projects, 1,404 Hanwha 290W polycrystalline solar modules and 22 high-efficiency SMA transformerless inverters utilized the CPS Net Metering program, allowing the schools to store excess energy as electricity credits towards their electrical costs.
