Project Description:
UniFirst partnered with HOLT Renewables to install a 232.5 kW solar array at its industrial laundry facility in San Antonio, Texas. The project consists of 612 Phono Solar 380W high-efficiency solar panels along with three Chint Power Systems string inverters and PanelClaw’s ballasted racking solution. With our help, UniFirst took advantage of the Federal Investment Tax Credit, which allowed for a credit of up to 30 percent of the total cost of installing a solar energy system. UniFirst also leveraged a commercial rebate from CPS Energy to help reduce the total project investment. The system offsets more than 25% of UniFirst’s energy use and will generate an estimated $1 million in lifetime savings. In the first year, UniFirst expects to see more than $25,000 in energy savings. The system is set to deliver long-term benefits as the cost of electricity rises. This is the first project in an ongoing effort to integrate sustainability at locations across the nation.
