Project Description:
In a continued focus to integrate sustainability into their business, SHI engaged HOLT Renewables to install a 428.13 kilowatt (kW) solar array on new offices in Austin. The project consists of 1,278 JA Solar 335W high-efficiency solar panels along with six Solectria string inverters and PanelClaw’s ballasted racking solution. SHI took advantage of the Federal Investment Tax Credit, which allowed for a credit of up to 30 percent of the total cost of installing a solar energy system. SHI also leveraged a performance-based incentive (PBI) from Austin Energy to help reduce the total project investment. The system offsets more than 25% of SHI’s energy use and will generate an estimated $34,000 in savings in the first year, with approximately $1,277,000 in lifetime savings.
