Project Description:
The project provided rooftop solar using PanelClaw’s ballasted racking solution. RBI Solar designed carports over customer and employee parking, and a “superstructure” built with long-span steel to provide shade over the site’s bus stalls. ECCTA funded the transit and bus maintenance facility project through a grant; HOLT Renewables value-engineered the project to provide maximum gain without exceeding the grant allocation. At the time of installation, the system offset more than 80% of the facility’s energy use and will continue to provide clean, renewable energy to charge the Agency’s expanding fleet of electric buses. As the cost of electricity is expected to rise over time, the system is set to deliver long term benefits. The installation helps ECCTA integrate sustainability while reducing operating expenses, thereby providing the greatest benefit to the 315,000 residents served by the transit authority.
