A Journey of Experience and Resilience

Kevin’s career path is rooted in discipline, adaptability, and purpose. He began his undergraduate studies at the United States Air Force Academy, where he also played Division I football, and later earned his Bachelor of Science in Technological Entrepreneurship and Management from Arizona State University — a fitting foundation for someone now leading a business built on innovation and execution.

Before joining the renewable energy industry, Kevin worked extensively in financial services, starting as a broker on an equity trade desk before becoming a market maker at Ascendiant Capital Markets. He later shifted his focus toward raising capital for retail and institutional funds focused on commercial real estate, renewable energy, and direct lending, including consulting for TriLinc Global Impact Fund. This experience shaped his sharp understanding of market forces, investor expectations, and long-term project value.

Kevin joined PCI Solar (now HOLT Renewables) in August 2018, and since then, he has played a pivotal role in the company’s evolution. After the merger between PCI and HOLT Renewables in 2020, he quickly emerged as a key driver of strategic project execution.

In his time at HOLT Renewables, Kevin has led landmark projects that exemplify the firm’s values of innovation, sustainability, and customer-focused execution. From delivering first-of-its-kind solar charging infrastructure for CapMetro to building the 1.036-megawatt solar system at Bakerly in San Antonio, Kevin has demonstrated how renewable energy projects can push boundaries and meet the growing demand for resilience and sustainability.

His approach to leadership combines deep industry knowledge with hands-on experience across every phase of a project’s lifecycle — from engineering and procurement to construction and final delivery. This perspective positions Kevin uniquely to align teams, resources, and customer expectations in a way that consistently delivers results.

“With a strong understanding of the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects, I will bring a client-focused approach to deliver best-in-class solutions,” Chavez shared. “We have a responsibility to align with the evolving needs of the market — particularly in energy resilience and the nationwide adoption of renewables — and we will meet that responsibility through operational excellence.”
